Health risks in association with indoor radon exposure in Northeastern Romania

Abstract The radon level was assessed in houses from two rural areas localized Northeastern Romania. Long-term measurements were performed for a period of four months using digital detector, model Corentium Home, AirThings 222 . In addition, every environment included the study, investigations concerning building materials, floor type, year and heating system made. Accordingly, Spearman’s correlation coefficients study variables calculated. World Health Organization recommends an upper threshold 100 Bq/m 3 as national reference level. For both studied areas, we calculated mean indoor more than , but Tomesti-Osoi area recorded values over 100, respectively 300 significantly households. Indoor exposure to people investigated found 75 35.3% cases, respectively, above accepted by international recommendations, with moderate between levels features residential buildings.
